It’s a record breaking year at Newcastle-under-Lyme School with some 82 per cent of entries being awarded A* to B. This is the highest in the School’s history with over a quarter (27 per cent) of all entries being awarded the A* grade, first awarded in 2010 to pick out the highest achieving students at A level. This is also the highest percentage achieved by students at the School.

Alex Brian, Lauren Horton, Raihan Mohammed, Jonathan Stafford and Lyric Jain have secured places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

Philip Eccleston, Lauren Horton, Abbie Keats and Jonathan Stafford achieved A* grades in four subjects with Andrew Foxall and Lyric Jain achieving A* or A grades also in four subjects. Rachel Fu, Jenny Gee, George Stephens, Daniel Tsiang and Emma Withers achieved three A* grades.

28 of the 80 students achieved A* or A grades in at least three subjects.

This year the percentage A* and A is 55.42 per cent with 82 per cent of all awards being at B grade or higher.

“These are truly outstanding results”, said Headmaster Nick Rugg. “We are delighted for the students who have worked so very hard to achieve these excellent grades. The efforts and commitment of parents, teachers and, of course, the students themselves should never be taken for granted and we are very proud of our students and the results they have achieved. Well done to everyone!"
